self portraits and portraits part 1

1. shoot candidly
Sometimes posed shots can look somewhat…. posed. Some people don’t look good in a posed environment and so switching to a candid type approach can work.
Photograph your subject at work, with family or doing something that they love. This will put them more at ease and you can end up getting some special shots with them reacting naturally to the situation that they are in. You might even want to grab a longer zoom lens to take you out of their immediate zone and get really paparazzi with them.
I find that this can particularly work when photographing children.
2. experiment with lighting
Another element of randomness that you can introduce to your portraits is the way that you light them. There are almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to using light in portraits.
Side-lighting can create mood, backlighting and silhouetting your subject to hide their features can be powerful.

3. frame your subject

Framing is a technique where by you draw attention to one element of an image by framing it with another element of the image.
Framing gives an image depth and draws the eye to a point of interest in the image.
You could do it by placing your subject in a window or doorway, have them look through a small gap or even use their hands around their face.
environmental portrait
what i liked about this photo was that, one I'm a dancer so i think the shot is really cool and i picked this because the angle the photographer took this is cool.
what i liked about this photo is that it is really cute and adorable and all sorts of things and i picked it because the sunset and background really sets the romantic mood.
Photography self portrait:
what i liked about this picture was how gloomy the background was and how her hair isn't perfectly in place and it is all over the place and i picked it because mostly the background was different.
What i liked about this photo was how the girl in the picture doesn't have a basic look and is wearing a mustache and really odd lashes and i picked it because its not a normal photo you would see.
Casual portrait:
what i liked about this photo was that it is in a really neat place and the background and focus is really cool. I picked it because of the angle and place it was shot at.
what i liked about this photo was that it is marilyn monroe and she is perfect and i picked this because its a really simple and settle picture.
Prompt shoot:
i plan on taking pictures of mostly my friends or family, which ever one is easy to capture. I will be taking these pictures around my neighborhood and places i normally go to.Ex.. my dance studio, friends house. I will make this prompt shoot successful by working hard and following the rules of photography and get everything done on time.
